A POET AT A BUS STATION
Be patient. Be patient.
Too much patient but not enough to see you.
Be patient. Be patient.
On my way from home to where you have a few days.
Be patient. Be patient.
Too much patient but not enough to call you.
Be patient. Be patient.
On my way through half of Ukraine by bus.
Be patient. Be patient.
Too much patient but not enough to hear you.
Be patient. Be patient.
On my way from far west for 13 hours.
Be patient. Be patient.
Too much patient but not enough to be with you.
Be patient. Be patient.
On my way for the moment waiting and waiting.
Be patient. Be patient.
Too much patient enough to talk with you.
Be patient. Be patient.
On my way home after those happy moments.
Be patient. Be patient.
Too many pigeons at a bus station round me.
Be patient. Be patient.
On my way home to wait and pray for you again.
A POET AT HOME
This poem is for all mothers and fathers
of soldiers in Ukraine.
I’m waiting for you to hear your voice.
I’m praying for you to read your words.
What a long long long silence is passing and passing at home.
Wherever you fight now, I’m calling your name, my dear son.
Where do you fight now? My hair is turning whiter, my dear son.
Wherever you sleep now, I’m calling your name, my dear son.
Where do you sleep now? My hair is turning whiter, my dear son.
I’m waiting for you to hear your voice.
I’m praying for you to read your words.
What a long long long silence is passing and passing at home.
Wherever you go now, I’m calling your name, my dear son.
Where do you go now? My hair is turning whiter, my dear son.
Wherever you stand now, I’m calling your name, my dear son.
Where do you stand now? My hair is turning whiter, my dear son.

"Aware of a poet?
Aware of a poet?
A poet of Cossack broods over the land.
Not noting a bullet.
Not noting a bullet.
You see a poet of Cossack in Borodyanka."
